If those end up being the actual types then GF probably did this on purpose.
I think it's pretty cool since this kinda creates a new connection between these starters and make they look good together.
It also reminds me of that theory that Alola starters are an expansion of Kalos RPG classes theme.

So, if we follow the pattern that the next gen's second type is SE against current gen's we have these typing combinations.
But if we want the type to be SE against the pokemon itself, we have almost no options.
Considering Game Freak's boner for Fire/Fighting, I'd say it's all but confirmed.

If the Waifu Pattern was a thing since the beginning, it would have been like this:
Gen1: Water
Gen2: Grass
Gen3: Fire
Gen4: Water
Gen5: Grass
Gen6: Fire
Gen7: Grass
In fact, this pattern is kinda real since it was only broken by the Water types in gen1 and 4.

All evolved flying types in the regional dex are off the ground in their Dex/Battle preview sprites, except Dartrix and Robinhoot. Dartrix is also the only known evolved flying type besides Dodrio to be on the ground in battle.

I'm guessing that's because Robinhoot is switching types.
