We have a 294 regional dex in alola (508 pokemon are missing 0.0)

Kalos was the best,who the fuck cares about the new pokemon anyway? that's why i didn't bough BW1 because new pokemon doesn't matter,only old pokemon.

Even more after the big ass pokedex than XY had.
Also,if we had bigg-ass pokede in every game it will feel repetitive and the regional pokedex will be so similar.

I'm sure GEN 8 will have a 250ish pokedex,the only reason that Alola has 290 is because Kanto unbalance that they'll fix in gen 8.

Also,new pokemon need to shine too,is their game,let them shine.

Kalos dex was way too large, so many Pokemon appeared once and then never again. For example, Pidgey is in Route 2, then never appears again, along with Pidgeotto and Pidgeot. Why are they even in there?

Kalos was so overcrowded that it had no feeling of cohesiveness whatsoever. It made me realize that there actually is an important reason to run into Oddish and Bidoof on a bunch of routes.

Because then we'd have a clusterfuck like we did for Kalos. unlike other games, Kalos had no alternative methods of capturing Pokemon like the Safari Zone, Bug Catching Contest, Dexnav or whatever, which lead to 1-5% encounter rates. Hell, there were a few routes where you saw NO gen 6 pokemon.

Unless you have a lot of areas, around 300 for a regional dex is ideal

Variety and just easy access to stuff. It also makes second playthroughs WAY more fun because you find shit that you didn't even know was on the route.

More pokémon is good but a Pokémon game does need to, during the main game, take you out of your comfort zone and make you try out new pokémon (be it literal new pokémon or just old pokémon you never used) before giving access to all of you usual ones.
Picking 300 or so out of 800 is a good way of doing that. Kalos giant dex was good, no Pokémon game had so many before, but imagine if every game had bigger and bigger dexes. Things would get pretty stale in my opinion.

210 - 290 regional dexes are the best way to go,there's no need to bloat the region and overshadow the new pokemon,Kalos was the only region to break that an it was completely shit.

In Pokemon's case it is, or rather I should say, it isn't the less favorable option. More monsters=more options. More options=more variety.
Here's something I'd like to know, why should we agree with you quality>quantityfriends? Why does this rule need to apply to a monster catching series? Quality vs Quantity shouldn't even be argued as exclusive to each other in these kinds of franchises. Every monster will be a fan favorite to hundreds of fans out there, heck even only a dozen is good enough.

In the end, everything is subjective, and no monster can ever have a universal appeal or unappeal. So why hold back, constraint, and limit the number of new Pokemon based on this arbitrary reason of "quality" that most of you probably won't even agree on?

What quantity fags want is for gamefreak to implement a similar pokedex system just like in X and Y, where you don't see the same fucking pokemon in every route to show diversity and that gamefreak isn't just a bunch of whipped morons who keep listening to the whiny douchebags that talk about how "great" gen one was and would never buy any other pokemon game. We don't want a massive as all hell pokedex exactly like X and Y's but we do want gamefreak to make a large and cohesive pokedex that shows the diversity of each area, about 300 or slightly less would be perfect each time around especially if they swap out mons every time to give love for every one.
You guys want a pokedex focused on the new mons which is understandable and I like that too, but the way gamefreak is working right sadly will not do so anytime soon... At least with a smaller pokedex that's less of an excuse to actually make pokemon from the same region version exclusive thus making almost all new Pokemon available on whichever copy you have, which so far the actually confirmed exclusives are the monkeys, box legendaries and lycanroc forms, so off the bat you can pick whichever version has the new mons you want since they are way less segregated
