Anyone using any old mons during you first playthrough of SM?

I want to use an Eeveelution (since they're my favourites) among the new mons

What about you?

Will probably use some I never used before.
Maybe Misdreavus/Mismagius, if I can get one early enough. Then depending on how it may take the spot away from Mimikyu and Alolan Marowak.

I generally try to use new mons, though in XY I kept the Kanto starter to try out Mega Evolution. For Sun and Moon, I was thinking about using Politoed as my water type. Not really crazy about any of the new Alola water-mons (shame there's no dolphin Pokemon), so I'd rather use a design I really like to complete my team in this case.

So basically do whatever you want. Alola has a small pool of well- designed new Pokemon. If you just stick to those, you'll probably have the same team as quite a few people (just look at the team builder threads, everyone and their mother is using Wimpod and Lycanrock for example). Older mons can add a bit of flair to your team, as long as they don't outnumber the new additions.

I think the closest that I'll get is Alolan forms since some of them are pretty neat. All I really know for sure is:

Probably Alolan Exeggutor too, but it might get bumped of for something else.

It depends. I was thinking about using Archeops simply because its typing fits well with the other mons I'm planning to use, and Minior really looks like a Carbink level shitmon. If I'm wrong and it has at least decent stats I'll pick it instead

I always use a mix, since not all new pokemon fit with a team and there are plenty of old pokemon I haven't used.

None of the new dark types are good and Alolan Ninetales is probably going to be trash despite being pretty, so I'm using Weavile. And if Wimpod2 isn't water then I finally have a chance to use slowking in a team.

Why they are waiting 3 months to release the update is retarded. Don't use the "let new players get caught up argument". I would rather wait and upload my monseseszes and breeze through the game, get to end game and then start back at the breeding game. Ever since the revamp to EXP mechanics in XY, I've started running 8-man teams to use the most Pokemon feasibly possible. But my autism prevents me from using team members with overlapping types or main colors. This made planning my team for SM somewhat difficult.

For my final member, I was left with the types Fighting, Psychic, Rock, Poison, Fairy, Flying, Ghost, and Dragon, and the colors Purple and Green. My first plan was Drifblim, until I found out it was exclusive to Sun.

So from there, I decided to choose a green Poison-type.

And that's why I'm using Garbodor on my first Moon run.
God help me.

New Pokemon only. I find it pointless to use Pokemon I'm already familiar with because I basically know what's the most adequate for it, its stats, its movepool and some other stuff. With new mons you don't really know what to expect, so it expands the concept of exploration beyond just the over world.

The only "old" Pokemon I'm considering using is Ninetales, but since it's the Alolan one, it won't be the same.

Same thing with the Bubble Spider, in the end I am going to have a half bug team the way Alola is going, same thing happened to me with Unova as well, they are too fucking good.

Unless it's a second version, i always use only new Pokemon. XY was a special case because it had Mega Evolution, and even then it was only for Venusaur.
I already decided to use Litten3, Vikavolt and Mudsdale, but the rest of the team is up in the air, mainly because i either haven't decided with(or against) it(Morelull2, Lycanroc Night, Wishiwashi, Lurantis) or is a type already present in the team(Winpod, Bubblespider, Turtonator, Palossand).

In general I tend to pick only new pokemon of the gen but here I will probably pick previous gens pokemon.

In BW2, I used previous gen pokemon because I already use a ton of gen 5 pokemon in BW.

In XY/ORAS, I used 12 pokemon with at least 6 pokemon of gen 6/gen 3 and some other gens for the fun and because I wanted to make my playthroughs more challenging (it didn't work but it was fun).

Depending on how easy/difficult SM is compared to XY/ORAS, I might pick 12 pokemon again or more with some old ones (and a few alolan forms).
