It bothers me how people want to associate some pokemon with real life animals. Not every pokemon has to be a real animal. Has everyone forgottten what pokemon means? "Pocket monsters" MONSTERS not pocket animals!

I've always seen Venusaur as a toad like monster. It isn't based off of any particular toad species, but it draws inspiration from them with it's squat posture, bumpy skin, green coloration, poison typing, and it's big, wide mouth.

I never saw the Bulbasaur line as frogs I more saw them as their own thing not based on real life animals but obviously they do resemble frogs and are based on them. The guy who said Japanese children like playing with turtles liZards and frogs was correct.
