not much, to be honest. i feel like the anime was strongest during the initial series and in the beginning (before the dub switch) of Hoenn. D/P was also decent. X/Y was good too. but getting through B/W is kind of a chore. (im also trying to play through the games at the same time but thats my own brand of autismo)

In the weekend streams we've been watching through the series and had the exact opposite opinion. Hoenn was a slog to get through, while BW's actually pretty entertaining if you don't take it seriously.

Johto is where most of the major complaints of the anime got their start.

Ash being cucked out of his character progression at the League.

Having a team full of unevolved mons who never accomplish shit or have characters beyond some one-note gimmick.

Giving away/not using the more interesting mons on his team in favor of losers like Bayleef and Cyndaquil.

Togepi stealing Misty's soul.

Team Rocket wasting everyone's time.

The FUCKING FILLER... Felt like it took that motherfucker forever to get a single badge after Bugsy, and all those forgettable ass Characters of the Week.

But it took. It took forever to get every single badge.

The only good moments in Johto are the Lugia episodes in Whirl Islands and Red Gyarados mini-arc.
