Also, counterargument: Borrowed teams and the IV-increasing shit will make competitive way more accessible without lowering its skill ceiling, allowing many, many more players to get into it. Those players will bring with them new strategies, ideas, and even their own personal tastes, creating a much more interesting meta than the one we used to have, which was created solely by people with the time, autism, and (above all else) the know-how to breed a competitive team.
People will dip their toes into competitive using smogonfag teams, but will quickly become free enough to win with whatever they like. After all, creating a 6IV Feraligatr is no longer going to require a massive investment of time and effort. If you try it in battle and things don't work out, you won't feel angry that you wasted however much time it takes to breed one. Furthermore, it's actually more likely that things _will_ work out, because you've gotten basic competitive experience from using borrowed teams in the past.
Smogonfaggotry is a crutch for bad players. Game Freak, in a rare display of good game design, has embraced this! By letting players get past their Smogonfag stage faster, GF allows them to evolve into Karenfags faster.
