After Gen 5 TPC got out of its ass and started doing decent marketing campaigns again. There wasn't this much hype for new pokémon games since pokémania. Sun/Moon will probably outsell both.

Well, 3DS piracy is now ridiculously easy, easier than the DS considering you don't even have to buy a flashcard or even find the game's ROM on some shady ass Russian site, you can now literally download a pirated copy from Nintendo servers, shit is totally fucked.

To be fair, 3DS piracy got accessible January 2016 with the downgrade exploit, before that it was a bit tricky to setup and required you to be on old firmware.

When the downgrade for current firmware came out it kickstarted the entire thing, now we are where we are.

We all thought the Battle Frontier was a guarantee! But GF pulled a No Man's Sky on us. ORAS just can't compete as a remake! The only thing its got going for it is sales! Quite sad.

BW and BW2 lacked child appeal, were sold at the end of the DS' lifespan, and also were not marketed nearly as heavily as XYORAS were.
Daily reminder sales are the first argument people have to say a game is good when they have no other argument. Just look at this thread.

GO was July.

So even before GO ORAS outsold FRLG and was about to outsell HGSS while XY was close to BW.
