Now that Water Shuriken is special will it be more useful for my bro Accelgor? I wished it was a bit stronger though like base 20 instead of 15.

Lol it's gonna be pretty cool desu, sucks it doesn't get Protean like Greninja cause while it isn't too crazy it's move pool is still baller. With Giga Drain, Water Shuriken and AV, or for the love of god a physical AV, it could be pretty scary to deal with. I mean seriously for a Bug it has really good coverage moves like Bug Buzz, Focus Blast/ Sludge Bomb, Giga Drain and Water Shuriken. Great late game revenge killer once steel flying kinda and fire types are gone given how most ground and rock types are stupid low on the special defense side.

Yet if he got a Mega with Protean and buffs to his Special Attack/Defenses he would be super stupid good. Though given how stupid game freak has been since XY with version exclusives unsure if that will happen. Though could you imagine with Bruxish? Where Bruxish got Dazzling Gleam, Surf/Muddy Water and Psychic and you had Mega-Accelgor to pick up the KOs? Cause with priority not working thanks to Dazzle shit like Talonflame or Kang is fucked especially if it can still use priority moves like Water Shuriken.

You can actually use Flame Body Talonflame and 90% of games it won't actually make a difference, but people will laugh at you when it does.

Water is actually good coverage for accelgor, it hits stuff like Camerupt, rhyperior and aerodactyl all with one moveslot. From a coverage point of view that's pretty good, even though to coverage isn't the main reason to use it. Usually Accelgor uses HP Ground or Giga Drain to hit those targets, but it can almost afford to give up one of them, even though Water Shuriken isn't very strong. Accelgor usually has a moveslot to spare on its offensive sets, which is encouraging. It'll also make fire types like Fletchinder and Scarf Typhlosion think twice about revenge killing.

>252 SpA Life Orb Accelgor Water Shuriken (3 hits) vs. 152 HP / 28 SpD Fletchinder: 171-210 (56.4 - 69.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
If stealth rocks are up Fletchinder can't even revenge Accelgor.

Basically i think it will be a niche move, but not a really major buff.

Anyone just realized that Pallosand+Accelgor strat is completely unreliable now that Water Shuriken stopped being physical? It can't make use of Water Compaction anymore.

It's a huge difference anon, gale wings means it can run adamant with no investment on speed, it hits as hard as a jolly base 130 atk mon

If you run the same setup with flame body you'd be outsped by base 90 positive natured mon, as typically talonflame only run 8 speed ev

You just don't have enough creativity!

You can just use a RBY-transferred Beedrill with Mimic, let it learn Water Shuriken from Accelgor, then switch Accelgor to Palossand, Mega Evolve and use it!

Tbh op i never really use offensive accelgor, he works so well as a lead with spikes, encore, bug buzz and yawn. Yawn is so underrated but works so well with him because if theres something you can't deal with just yawn and tank a hit with focus sash and set up spikes on their switch
