He had his GBA with him and had a level 100 Lanturn in his Ruby or Sapphire, don't recall which. At the time, I didn't know anyone else with a level 100 Pokemon at all, so I was really wowed. He said Lanturn was his favorite Pokemon.
Lanturn to me, as a result, will always be a symbol of love and perseverance.
