She's not in the ideal BMI range. When I was her size I was 32 BMI, which is obese. I didn't think I was unhealthy at all, because there are much larger people. Reality is that people who are obese are smaller than we picture them, because of those people that go above and beyond and seem so far removed that we can't compare - yet they're also called obese. So you have a hard time grouping the two.
:^) I am aware thin is not so healthy. In fact, many people who are within in a normal are technically fat due to body fat percentage.
My mother was pre-diabetic and the doc said losing 10 pounds would lower her blood pressure. When you're obese you could easily lose 30 and still not be underweight. Excess fat has been shown to affect everything, given enough time to. So yes, losing weight , when you're fat, is good for you. Course, if you're already fit or underweight, losing more weight won't do any good at all.
