For some bs reason Snorlax was started to be used by lifeguards in Alolan beaches.

Eventually Alolan Snorlax became slightly slimmer and acquired longer feet to swim better. The silly pattern imitates tourists commonly found on the beaches, which gives tourists in need a sense of familiarity (I guessed Snorlax must be terrifying when they're not asleep and fucking running/swimming towards you)
