How do you know Lunala isn't a spirit without the game being out? The ghost bird uses the power if spirits to gain it's ghost typing so that one doesn't even count. A Marowak is what happens when the parent dies fighting grass types and is reborn as a vengeful spirit with newly gained hellfire to protect it's children from the same fate.

Up until Gen 7 all Ghost types were either spirits, posessed objects or otherworldy beings. Only recently have there been Ghost Pokemon that arent actually ghosts.

The people who stated Sableye read it's pokedex entries. The people who stated the ghost bird, it channels the power of spirits and uses that to gain the ghost type it is related to the dead although it isn't dead it still counts as a spirit because the typing came from them.

The Marowak is just from the idea of HOW they thought of the typing, we've already seen a vengeful spirit of Marowak in Gen 1 so it's not that far of a stretch unless you're too stupid to think that.

Jellicent, and Giratina do you have any proof or pokedex entries that state they're alive and have full physical form at all times?

Golurk and Hoopa I will let you have however. Name one more that has NOTHING to do with the dead, or possession.

Literally not a single thing in Jellicent's dex entry points to it being dead. Not a single thing.
I guess since Charizard's dex entry doesn't mention how it's a reincarnated child sucked into a TV means that it's ghost type since "I..it didn't say it wasn't dead!"
Same thing with Giratina. The fucker just wasn't made dead.

Anyone with a brain can reasonably assume that ghost types are just incorporeal creatures that people mistook as actual ghosts and the type name is just a misnomer. They're still living creatures that still eat and reproduce.
The same way a shit ton of flying types can't actually fly.

Ghosts are just immaterial, abstract designs that don't fit into the universe's rules otherwise.

What defines this is that Ghosts and Normal types cannot interact with eachother in any way, because they essentially at polar opposites of the spectrum.

They have an innate connection to the occult, ghosts and spirits/spiritualism, but aren't exclusively tied to it.

How about you actually state where it says a ghost Pokémon is actually alive? Giratina, Lunala, and Jellicent have no statements saying they aren't otherworldly beings. Sableye and Driftblim are fucking spirits read the Pokedex. Back in Gen we had a Marowak that was a vengeful spirit they looked back into that and decided a ghost retyping for Marowak would be cool. Ghost bird channels spirits, the ghost typing comes from it using the powers of the dead to fight. Rowlet however we haven't seen it's Pokedex entry but as of now it shows no connection with otherworldly beings so the typing seems random.

Spirit Shackle is referred to as a physical attack on Decidueye's page on the English site so I'm pretty sure he'll be physical based. Decidueye is physical ranged, Incineroar is physical melee, and Primarina is special (which are almost all ranged)

The point is, that Marowak was literally dead and not a ghost-type. It was a literal ghost, and not a ghost-type pokemon. So being dead does not automatically make a pokemon a ghost-type, and as shown by Golurk and Hoopa and Jellicent and Rotom and Giratina and Oricorio, being a ghost-type does not automatically mean a pokemon is dead.

Why... IS it a ghost type? You'd think something that's this big of a deal would be spoken of on its description, but it's not. I know it doesn't HAVE to be a ghost; I think it's stupid, but "spooky things" count as ghosts too, I guess. But nothing about Decidueye is spooky, or even remotely spiritual. And the point is they couldn't change its type they would've had to edit that specific Marowak to be different from the others by typing etc. We don't know if they could've done that back then Conversion changes the user's typing yes but doesn't make that user come out a different type immediately. Giratina is questionable for being a ghost or not, Oricorio is a ghost because it utilizes spirits with its dances connecting it to the dead.

From the beginning I said that ghost Pokémon were dead, spirits, or a possessed object. So in don't know what you're trying to prove to me as I know both are separate hence why I started using Otherworldly beings but people didn't understand the meaning of that and thought I meant Aliens too or some crap.

Froslass is Ghost because it's based on a Yokai, more specifically, the Yuki-Onna (or Snow Woman).

Most Yokai aren't dead people as much as monsters that assume the form of one.

Ghost isn't a literal type. It signifies a connection to the occult and the unknown. Decidueye is a rogue, a hunter, it focuses on stealth and acting beyond the understanding of its prey and enemy. How many tales of monsters and murderous spirits might not be simply skilled killers and thieves who managed to seem like one to hide their true nature?

Or, if you want it simpler, sneaky dudes in hoods are spooky like ghosts. If you see either on the street at night you'll run away.

Owls are associated with ghosts and bad omens in multiple cultures. Seeing an owl was supposed to foretell a death in the near future. As a small but tangential side note, for the majority of history vampires were associated with owls, rather than bats; this is unsurprising, as vampire bats aren't native to Europe.

Owls are creepy, spooky motherfucker.

This is the big one:
Pueo, a species of owl native to Hawaii, is considered a form of ancestral spirit, and were believed to be able to fly into the spirit world.

If you want to tie into it being a hunter, then the fact owls are ill omens works with that. If you see a Decidueye, things are looking bad for you.

In the Pokemon universe (just like the Monster Hunter universe), "dragon" is an element.
Being a "dragon type" doesnt mean you're a dragon. It means you have an affinity towards the dragon element.

The only Dark-type move that has anything to do with darkness is Dark Void. Dark in Pokemon isn't the "darkness" type, it's the "dirty fighting" type.

The darkness/shadows type is Ghost.

Yet they haven't done so yet for a boss battle of sorts do your point is moot. When they actually do it once and then refuse to change that Marowak the same way in a future remake then sure I'll give you that one. But as of now they couldn't be bothered to make a separate Marowak for the battle. Not to mention we're taking about the programmers who scrubbed most things off the SM demo but the fucking shiny sprites and team preview sprites.
