It showed a lot more than just sprites, including some abilities, battle intros, and battle formats. Single and double battles work, triple and rotation battles either don't exist, or crash the game.

Nah, Wonder battles support stall teams too much. It's a nice thought, and could be good with a little tweaking, but if they just kept it as was it would be, it would make stall to powerful.

You've never actually played rotation battles have you? I mean, I know /vp/ doesn't understand the concept of switching, so it makes sense that a format that is entirely based on it would feel just luck based.

And if you go in with a regular team, yeah, it would be luck based.

Rotation battles are all about spreading coverage through your team, and figuring out which coverage move would be best to use without making you vulnerable. Its about as luck based as fighting a Protean Greninja. You just have to plan it out more.

They didn't try and test them, the game has a specific variable for the type of battle. In previous gens, it was 0=Single, 1=Double, 2=Triple, 3=Rotations (I think that's the order). Here, it's 0=Single, 1=Double, 2=Royale, and any other value causes an automatic crash.

Rotation battles are interesting, but they have too much luck involved because you're guessing rather than predicting. Which is why that core dominates to minimize luck as much as possible by being super solid offensively and defensively
