(3 years later)
HGSS = 14
(At the very least 7 + 2 years later)
BW2 = 23

SM doesn't seem like it happened all that long after XY, so maybe a year or 2 at best.

So he maybe 24 or 25, since XY happened at the same as BW2.

Red has his HgSS team with a mega Charizard X right? Or if origins counts he could also habe mewtwo.

That said many of Ash's pokemon can hold their own against lgendaries.

The kid is still young, but old enough to talk, 7 is pretty much a low ball guess at how long its been.

Caitlin is also older in BW compared to DPPt, but not THAT much older.
