At best, I assume that going through the Battle Tree will make gyms pop up around the region with the Trail Captains leading them. Then you can walk in and rematch them whenever you feel like.

That's because we can create our own Pokemon league in the post game. Your character is the champion and you can select Alola characters to be part of the E4. Characters from others gens (Red, Blue, etc.) try to defeat your pokemon league.

If the post game is gyms and the e4 at high levels I will be as excited as I will be shocked. Game freak doing something right is rare enough, but doing it that right is basically unheard of. I expect a PWT situation, which I will be fine with.

It's not that unlikely though. Guzma talks about not being able to become a trial captain to Kakui. Team Skull is all about disrupting trials because he's still salty. There's a bigger badder team we're confirmed to fight. And we only have 7 possible gym leaders right now

So since this will be the 20th anniversary of the Anime and would run about 3 seasons making it last from 20-22 seasons total... Ash should be able to win this league. Also he should get the chance to encounter old friends like Dawn, May, Iris, and Misty, as well as Brock since it'll be 20 years of the anime. There should be a movie about everyone coming back too and its supposedly the end of the world and all UB's attack and Ash and friends help save the world.

Because people were under the impression that it would come with a remake of a remake, or DLC confirmed.

Meanwhile, we already have screenshots and video showcasing the tree deal and Blue mentioning it's nice to meet another champion, which is much of a giveaway as possible that there will still be a league to be crowned champion of in Alola, just that it isn't active early on into the game.
