Just to reiterate, all of the current non-Japan regions (not counting Orre because main games) have been mega tourist destinations with France and Hawaii being Japans top two and Unova being NYC in general. I guess you could also count the contested Russian controlled islands for Sinnoh.
Unless something big goes on in the region, I could see Alola getting a second game unlike Kalos since the terror attacks and news reports really killed the French Romanticism. Then again, second game sales aren't the best.

Likely candidates could be the one part of Japan they haven't used yet, Italy due to lack of knowledge, Dubai, or any other European country that hasn't turned them off.

Less likely due to the news are major Euro countries with constant reminders of migrant problems like Germany, the Nordics, or the UK, SEA although Japan doesn't generally dislike them.

Not likely due to politics or just general contention. China due to tensions, Korea for the same reason, Taiwan despite probably being the only neighbor that doesn't dislike them on a larger level, Russia outside of contested territory, Latin America due to conditions, and anything in the Fertile Crescent area/ Africa.

US again is a I guess tier. Nothing really stopping it. Japan already kinda knows what to expect, so US drama isn't really seen as a surprise. Canada is kinda in the same spot. Brazil maybe due to nature/ population, but the climate seems a bit samey. The Olympics also boosted some opinions.

I think Greece and Japan have good relations, and Greece has a lot of culture, myths, architecture and style that would make for an interesting game.

But I'd personally love a Rome-based region, where we have gladiator fights and arenas in place of Gyms. A lot more formal and cool than Trial Captains.

Australia would be great if the entire country was condensed into one region. We're way too sparse to be pieced up like America and Japan.

We're generally popular for Japanese tourists and we have incredible bio-diversity. But the killing issue is, what about our cultural aspects? I can't think of anything that would stand out as AUSTRALIA in terms of buildings to foreigners aside from the Opera House just because of the distinct shape, and even then nobody really gives a shit about it.

Africa would be amazing. There's enough diverse biomes, including Mt. Kilimanjaro for ice-types. There's a ton of folklore and historical importance throughout the continent. The flora and fauna is plenty big, varied and inspiring, so no excuse for a small dex of new Pokemon.

Kinda covered with Evergrande. I would've liked it to be its own thing, but the original Evergrande on the map was basically a flipped around Naha and they remade victory road (albeit Meteor falls looks closer to it) kinda Gyokusendo like and the Pokemon League really Shuri Castle like.

Texas is perfect for the next region. Its big af, diverse in terrain(deserts, plains, forests, ranches, etc.), energy like oil and windfarms, Rocket launches and Nasa for space mons, plenty of monuments to model (Alamo, Reunion building, etc.) and a bunch of culture to base off

I would love to see a Greece or Italy inspired region, get some regional variants based on mythology, like Fire/Flying Rapidash (pegasus) or Ghost/Fighting Dusknoir (cyclops). With the Legendaries emphasizing the Greek Pantheon. Maybe Pokemon Brain & Pokemon Brawn, with the cover Legendaries loosely based on Athena & Ares. An additional Legendary trio could be Zeus/Poseidon/Hades based (possibly a mythical event trio).

Then the next will be

The theory about the fire types being chinese zodiacs alongside that theory point to a fire snake. If the water starters continue to be animals that can live outside of water then the water/fighting can easily be a hippo. Grass is wildcard at this point.

I think australia has some merit to actually being the next region.

Antarctica/ the Arctic might be a bit iffy due to Japan's whaling and whatnot. Plus any mention of global warming is bound to get somebodies panties in a twist. I'd be for it though. Those sub antarctic/ arctic islands could also be neat areas as well as research stations and the respective solid and oceanic interiors.
