Does anyone else see the RPG class theme happening again with Sun/Moon?

Would it be stupid to assume next go around Fire will be Stealth, Grass will be Magic and Water will be a Fighter?

Actually, they are more like additional RPG classes. Primarina is a healer, Incineroar a thug/fighter and Decidueye a ranger.

Apart from the zodiac fire starter thing, I've heard of a dinosaur/ancient animal pattern for grass and weapons for water. This Gen completely destroyed the theory though.

The dinosaur pattern wasn't so much dinosaur as it was just reptiles, but Chespin ruined that.
Waters never had a pattern except for semi-aquatic animals.

I don't think Gamefreak knew that they were even doing the Zodiac, but I think they heard about it because they just blatantly did a tiger now.

The pattern was extinct animals for grass you mongs. Both Chesnaught and Decidueye are based on extinct animals, so at least that theme is intact.

The water theme is amphibious/semi-aquatic animals or weaponry depending on who you ask. YMMV on the weaponry thing but at the very least the amphibious theme has stayed intact.

Not OP but pic related. Primarina and Feraligatr are the biggest stretches, but believable enough that I'd still buy it. Sorry for the mariachispeak.

And before someone else says it, the owl species Decidueye is based on, the stilted owl, is an extinct one that was native to Hawaii.

I'm with you with the Water starters, but extinct animals is kinda reaching. Like the Snivy like is really just royalty and snakes. And Venasaur isn't even a definitive animal, but the flower on its back is still existent.

You could also say Chespin is a porcupine.

it's not really dinosaurs, but more like extinct animals. However based on other threads i've read, rowlett's final evo(dont think ill ever be able to say that name) is actually based on a hawaiian extinct owl. so the dino theme is definitely broken, but the extinct animal theme is not.

I think that covers the basic classes, but if GF really wanted to stretch it I think the next classes would be

Machinist/Engineer (Fire/Steel could fill this role, possibly)
Geomancer (weather/terrain-reliant)
Dark Knight (HP for attack power, belly drum anyone?)
Dragoon (single-turn invincibility focused)

Elsewise, I don't think there's too many classes left that could fit

If that is the case, the snake zodiac fits for fire.
Magic/Grass can be anything. The line fits actual evolution from dino's to mammals and now birds.
Fighter/Water.... I'm thinking hippo for semi-aquatic animal. What others could there be?
