Given there was some battle intro vid or something implying Ultra beasts power up similar to totem Pokemon, too, I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't quite at legendary level except for one or two of them. I'm also not entirely sure if the star blob we saw today is supposed to be a pre-evo, I think it might just be the orb. It's obviously related to them, but it's talked about so casually that I doubt it's supposed to be legendary, just rare at best.
>>29485873For a while there it looked like it might- to the point Gamefreak is flat out copying several aspects of that franchise. It's obviously declining in popularity now, though, probably because they tried to pump out game after game with way too many new monsters to memorize and a large number of them being clones of Jibanyan or a palette swap another monster.
If I can give Gamefreak credit for anything, it's that each individual Pokemon really feels like it could be the only one of its species and be a character in its own right. A lot of other monster sims just try to design species in general, or only give real character to certain designs and halfass others.
