>>29492571These artists that love to make everything into minorities seem to have a pattern of only picking certain traits for their headcanons, which is what causes this kind of issue. They target mermaids/pinnipeds because they don't have biped or quadped legs.
And while it's a trope for mermaid characters that are pretending to be human to use wheelchairs to hide the fact their legs are actually a fish tail, real wheelchair users don't always hide their legs with a blanket or a skirt. (Disabled men don't even have wearing a skirt as an option.) Their legs may be in sight or they might not be there at all.
Additionally if the artist doesn't make any other paraplegic headcanons other than for these kinds of characters, the artist is objectively saying that paraplegics can only be mermaids and if they don't like it then tough luck for them to find a character they can ~*~*relate*~*~ to.
Take notes if you ever want to cause infighting among these types that get too carried away with trying to make everything politically correct. The end result is usually either successful trolling or they're actually more redpilled than they want to appear to be.Oh, and Sirenomelia is a real thing that babies die from. Don't google it.
