People have been pulling a lot of jojo "references" out of SM, and honestly some of them are retarded.
I don't really think they're references, but JoJo is huge in Japan.
Also that isn't the only edit. There's a lot of edits of gen VII Red and Blue with Jojo, it's actually impressive to say the least, considering how longs it's been.
Stands also remind a lot of people of pokemon. Sure the rules are completely fucking different, but the most common explanation for JoJo i've heard of is "manly pokemon", and as JoJo is huge in Japan, and now it's getting pretty big in the west, its popularity will just keep climbing.
