The anime isnt canon, just a game counterpart of that character. All we know about game Ash is he beat the Kanto league then went to Sinnoh.

I was walking on Route 3 two years ago when I saw something that would change me forever. I saw a small secluded area with a lot of tall grass. I could see two figures there that I instantly recognized from my days in training in the league-- Red and Blue. FRLG can trade canonically with Hoenn through post-game
HGSS take place 3 years after FRLG like the originals
HGSS have the same Battle Frontier as DPPl, same characters as DPPl and thus take place around the same time due to connectivity
Said Battle Frontier, has Caitlin, thus linking BW to Gen IV as a direct sequel among other nods here and there

Anyways, the only shit that doesn't make sense is Gen VI because Game Freak forgot how to tell a story and Zinnia was allowed to exist

Yeah but that's a terrible example because MGS series feels more like a tv show than a real world. Like all the characters in MGS are actors playing a role rather than a real character. The past stuff where everyone is related to everyone and everyone knows everyone is super weak too. Same mistake as Star Wars.
