I realized what the theme is for the starters: Roles in a story.
Decidueye is the protagonist of the story because of his Robin Hood-like characteristics.
Incineroar is the antagonist because of heel wrestlers are considered "bad guys" in wrestling.
Primarina plays the role of a princess because of her singing and possibly inspired by Ariel from The Little Mermaid
Any thoughts?

It's a theatre/carnival group. Each one of them has a skill that can be used to entertain a crowd.

Owl shoots targets with extreme flair and precision, just like Robin Hood pierced the arrow with another arrow.

Cat is obviously a wrestler and we know how they can play to a crowd. If you wanted to go further with the carnival theme, it IS a tiger with a ring of Fire around it.

And Seal is a singer with a voice that people come to listen to. Also it goes back to the themes of seals balancing balls on their noses.

Call me when Chesnaught is dressed in literal white armor, wears an actual helmet, rides a horse and is Deus Vulting the shit out of pagans, heretics and witches. Inb4 that's exactly what Mega Chesnaught is and I look extremely silly when someone digs this post out from the archive in the future.

Chesnaught's RPG class is called Fighter, a classic RPG class used in both JRPGs like Final Fantasy and tabletop games like DnD.

Some fighters may look like knights in terms of armor, sure, but fighters can be a variety of things (generally they're just adventurers). Their key feature is also the part where they can efficiently utilize a wide variety of weapons, usually just stopping at magical weaponry. They can even use bows if needed. That's why Chesnaught don't have a weapon, it has no particular fighting style.

With that said, GF should have it use its magical grass powers to grow weaponry like spears, axes, maces, swords, arrows, etc the same it can grow shields, to represent that fighters can use almost any weapon. The animations could be cool as fuck if done right.

Chestnaught isn't a crusader but it is paladin. And Chestnaught actually wears a helmet. Also Chestnaught is well known for its shield and the work of paladins is to protect.

Helmets are supposed to protect. Chesnaught's "helmet" protects nothing, unless it's supposed to protect its baldness. It really shows that it's a failure of a design when the helmets of its pre-evos actually look like that they could protect but Chesnaught's doesn't.
