Miyamoto is mostly notorious for cutting out the story and "fluff" of the games he touches. The backlash was pretty massive with the recent Paper Mario situation because a huge part of Paper Mario's appeal was its charming story and characters.
A lot of people complain about Pokemon's emphasis on story and random diversions. Some of that is what caused people to dislike Gen 5. So in a way, i bet this board will be split right down the middle on a Miyamoto pokemon game.
And the general population wouldnt care, since the quality of a pokemon game doesnt really effect its sales. Its all about marketing and timing.
