You also stand there in battles themselves. Customization has finally gotten to the level of Battle Revolution, which was a dream of mine since I played that game, having in-battle trainers with customization in the main games.
Too bad that unlike that game you only get one avatar per gender. Pic related, in PBR you could pick 3 different avatars with different animations and poses per gender.
