Also...and I can't stress this enough, what the fuck would an underwater spider need to be defending itself from?

Technically spinarak has a false face on its abdomen. The irl version has one, but it wouldn't help as a false eyespot against birds or Hawaiian face huggers. Just a coincidental pattern that looks like a face on its butt.

The thing that bothers me most about most of these posters is they don't understand how bubbles work.

The perspective is clearly from behind, we see the bubble on the spider's abdomen, and we see the head THROUGH the bubble, not IN the bubble

The problem is the legs, The legs could not be coming out of a bubble, they'd pop the bubble the second locomotion came into play, simply moving its legs would tear the bubble and it'd have to blow/create another one.

Ergo, the bubble is exclusively on the abdomen and does not pass it's center, or its head.

Anon go look at a Spider. They have a cephalotorax (no neck) from which their legs are born and an abdomen. The body scheme of a Spider would actually only work on an ant.

I'm suspecting that it'll be really good, and here's why:

It's a spider, so it'll have access to sticky web, which alone is enough to make it OU viable.
It probably has good defensive stats. It likely forms a version exclusive pair with the anemone, and these pairs tend to have similar stats.
Based on the design, it's very likely to have intimidate as an ability. This works very well with defensive stats.
It's water type so it'll have access to scald, which can further lower the opponents attack.

It's going to be a great sticky web lead and a physical wall.

It's just a spider with a big head. It has the bubble on its face to make the "diving" aspect more obvious.
Should be mentioned they did take a note from real spiders, by adding the three smaller eyes on top.

At least one of its legs is clearly coming from the body mass in the front of the creature in the OP.

Unless its right legs have yet another articulation, it is impossible that they could attach to the thing in the back.
Unless the left legs have a random change of color at some arbirary point near the spider's body, we can see the front left leg joining the front part of the spider's body.
