To think we were so close to having probably the best starter evolutionary line but gamefreak fucked it and we got something on furshits like.

A Dark/Fire tiger that stayed on all fours would have gone down in history as probably the best starter, definitely the best fire starter.

Incineroar is basically a skinnier Embroar with a better typing, hell their names even share "roar."

I was pretty bummed about Samurott too, OP. There was absolutely no reason for it to go from being an otter to a sea lion like that, not to mention doing away with its little clam shell razors in exchange for awkward armor/sword things on its forearms. And what's with that stupid fucking helmet?

Oshawott's body was fully covered with a vest that stored it's shell and progressively loses the vest after it evolves. Which is why Samurott uses shell armor to store it's weapons instead.
