Enough of all these bait threads, lets have one that actually complements what each region did right or added to pokemon that was benificial in the end.

Gen 1: Good basis for the series built on an engine held up by tape at best. Good general quality of Pokemon designs. Actually had the capability to fight a number of gyms out of order.
Gen 2: Evos and some prevos fleshed out some Gen 1 mons. Has a lot of small things that made it feel alive. Best postgame. Special stat fixed.
Gen 3: Started really giving importance to the legendaries, even if it cost the "rarity" of them a bit. One of two gens where your game choice actually had a notable impact. Best side games. Abilities and Natures.
Gen 4: The Split. Capsules were real fun at the time. Some really good cross-gen evos. Hardest champion. Probably the best Competitive scene.
Gen 5: Was able to stand entirely by its own merits. Biggest dex expansion. Holy fuck the story was amazing. Ghetsis and N were honestly groundbreaking. Volcarona made breeding great. HA's were good.
Gen 6: Megas are what every one of us dreamed for on some level. Largest regional dex for the most options in your teams. EXP Share could let you really swap pokemon in and out when you wanted without fear of them ever being too far behind.

Comfiest region and introduced breeding/ baby pokemon. IMO some of the cutest and coolest designs in the series.

Tried to set up mythology/ history to the pokemon world, had a couple of environments which were unique to it making it feel special.

Most interesting pokemon designs that opinions appear to be split over but I feel positive over for the most part. Does what all prior generations did before but improved for the most part.

Feels very special with its own special aesthetic, Mega evolution is an interesting mechanic which I personally enjoy.

Feels like it's own special thing with all mechanics being flopped all around. All top tier designs IMO.
