>>29564229It's literally a game mechanic so your starter is more unique and you don't breed copies of it (since Ditto is usually later in the game when they introduced genders).
If it had a higher chance of female, it would be easier to breed and thus less unique, but since Wonder Trade is a thing these days, there's literally no point for the gender ratio stuff for starters anymore. But since GF is into tradition, they probably didn't think this through.
But then again, there was the video with Z moves where the starters presented were all shown to be female.
Every idiot who cries about the starters' gender ratio doesn't know jack shit about this reasoning behind it.
