Blaze Black/Volt White are really good. Or BB2/VW2. The first one if you like the Unova plot but are one of those babies that whines about only using Unova mons, plus a nice difficulty boost.
Or BB/VW2 if you wanna play the best Pokemon games ever with even more challenge and even more mons available (aka literally every one).

Blaze Black 2 on Challenge Mode is my favorite hack ever.

I played the clean version to trade the mons to my main game though, maybe I should play the full one with the balance changes and use some shitmons just to see what happens.

The gyms BBVW1 are all triple, double or rotation battles, there are no separate patches for difficulties.

Only if you count that one XD hack. I don't think it's been done in other games, just because making single battles into double battles requires adding extra scripts to every trainer.

You can do that and it'll work fine 99% of the time, but if some retard tries to play with just one Pokemon the game will make a clone of it that disappears after every battle. The extra scripts prevent that by not letting them battle with less than two mons. Probably wouldn't be an issue, but it'd be sloppy not to account for that.

I'm not sure why, but aside from Drayano's hacks which are very good, I also liked Pokemon Glazed and Pokemon Cuckold Emerald.

At the moment I'm going through Pokemon Polished Crystal and I have to say it's awesome.

Pokemon Christmas was also good, but not finished.

There is a fantastic hack I'm playing called Wilting Y which changes all teams, makes all pokemon available, and ups the difficulty. Also a ORAS hack called Rutile Ruby that does the same thing

Playing Rutile right now, it's fucking insane. If anyone cringes at the idea of EV training and getting good natures and team comps for single player, then stay away, it's not for the faint of heart.

I love how it focuses on being legit and online ready too, while making breeding and EV training and everything a lot easier, not to mention ability capsule farming being possible. You can literally play it as your main game online.

I hope the author goes through with his promises for a similar SM hack, because I'm 100% sure GF will screw hyper training by making bottle caps basically rarer than a shiny. It will also be easy as fuck as always.

I'm the anon u responded to, haven't actually played Rutile, but heard good things. Had NO idea it had online capability. Was playing through this Y romhack (which can't go online) so I could keep my ORAS online. If I can go online like you say, this just made my day and I will install it ASAP.

Yea I was shocked to see Spearow removed, because I usually use one for a while, but other than that the game is great. There are no bugs, some nice addditions in maps and stuff.

One other thing that sucks is that the maker didn't help remove some water parts in between Olivine and Cianwood. He added more! Now Goldenrod is also connected to Olivine and Cianwood.

You can only go online if you are using the cia version on CFW though, because the online patch has to be installed on your system.

Pokémon RBY and GSC are limited to one-byte indexes for Pokémon, moves, and items. You can only have 254 Pokémon in RBY (indexes 00 and FF are used for in-game functions) and 253 in GSC (same as above, plus an index for the egg). Polished Crystal adds cross-gen evolutions, and had to remove some Pokémon to make room.

There's a still-buggy expansion of the Pokémon indexes to two bytes in Red (buggy because some things like evolution fuck up the game majorly for Pokémon above index 255 and the guy working on it has been busy) and someone else recently started a big project to modernize Crystal's data structure to Gen VI including 2-byte indexes for Pokémon and moves; if the latter gets somewhere, I'm pretty sure the author of Polished Crystal will use it and restore the cut Pokémon.

Yes. They're probably easier than when Drayano made SGSS, I know that Light Platinum remake guy has been able to create custom maps that work 100% properly, but it's still not anywhere close to as easy as Gen 1-3 is today.

This says it's a map editor, but it does trainers too: http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=288625. Just don't use the wild pokemon editor, it's bugged and will corrupt parts of the ROM. Also, the script editor doesn't save properly, and you still have to hex edit if you want ball capsules or specific abilities on trainers.

Playing Reborn right now (Yeah, I know it isnt a hack per se).

Although edgy, the dialogue is actually good (unlike Insurgence [ugh]). Feels more normal. The high difficulty is great.
