To be honest, I wouldn't say the show was that great. Serena had a boring-ass goal with rivals who either sucked, worshiped her, or both sucked AND worshiped her.

And she has like no interactions with any of her friends outside of Ash and her own Pokemon. Maybe sometimes she'll act like a big sister to Bonnie, if she show remembers that character trait.

Bonnie was garbage, I'd say she was undeveloped but that would imply there was anything to develop in the first place

She's not different in terms of character, but she doesn't need to be. She had her emotional episodes, growth with the Zygarde/squishy, entertaining episodes with her brother, sisterly moments with Serena, and a number of funny moments in random episodes or scenes where she did something cute, funny or adorable.

That's what she was there for.

She had her moments but ultimately didn't change or enable anyone else to change. Pokemon journeys are supposed to be about maturing and this little turd returned home completely unchanged. That's why Bonnie doesn't feel like a character to me so much as a device to appeal to lolicons

Bonnie went through a wide range of emotions in the show. If she was just there to be generically happy it'd be different, but the writers treated her as a real main character and gave her as much focus as a main girl gets in the show. Which is amazing because she wasn't a trainer and had no real pokemon to use like the others.

As for your last comment, that's what I imagine when people have to take shots at fictional kid characters. Either way the XY cast wouldn't have been anywhere as enjoyable without her.
