Since we're about to begin gen 7, and I'm honestly a bit tired of the anti gen 6 circlejerk, what were things that you LIKED about XY and ORAS?
Personally, I really liked the soundtracks. I also didn't mind the low amount of pokemon introduced, as I liked their designs overall and felt there were very few "pointless" introductions.

The new Kalos pokemon were pretty much solid the whole way through and I gained some favorites from this dex. Gens 2-5 didn't enchant me nearly as much, and I have to wonder if it was such a good idea to jam-pack every area of Kalos with so many previous gen pokemon.

Amie was a fun idea, if not perfectly implemented.
Contrary to others, I actually enjoyed ORAS's postgame, counting Delta Episode. The DexNav was a great way to keep the interest of players like me that prefer collecting to actually battling.

Mega Evolutions are a good idea. They are not as well executed as they could have been, but the idea is solid.

Character customization: this is something people wanted in the Pokemon games for *years* and we finally got it.

Pretty good Pokemon overall. There's nothing in the Kalos dex that I particularly dislike.

Amie and Super Training are two things I think are way overdue in the series as well. They give you ways to interact with your Pokemon outside of battles and turn two tedious things into fun minigames. And best of all, they're still optional. If you want to raise happiness and EVs the old fashioned (and probably much faster) way, have at it.

The battles. They look great and easily the best they've ever looked in the series. It's just a shame about the washed out colors and frame drops.

Battle resort daycare
Battle resort stats judge
Battle resort bike loop
Battle resort being a perfect paradise for breeding in general

...Did I mention dexnav is one of the best things GF has ever done?

I really liked X/Y, I don't know why people hate it so much. It was a touch easy and it did feel a little bit rushed/like too much had been crammed into the beginning and then forgotten halfway through but other than that it's fine.

Yeah it's even worse than the original DpPt gym theme. At least that one had a good base, it just needed more energy, but XY doesn't fit at all with the energetic tone that every other theme has.
I also like megas IN CONCEPT. But in practice they are the worst gameplay change of the whole series. I hope they give it another shot one day tho.

It's incredible how much the lack of any challenge at all and gyms having almost placeholder tier shitmons affected my enjoyment of gen 6. I knew it bothered me but I didn't realize how much it ruined the games for me.
With the difficulty fixed (and then some, shit is hard) it's making me appreciate Kalos a lot more.

I like how Lysandere is more involved before his fight

Customization was, of course, a great idea if a bit shallow initially.

Well-designed characters.

Mega Evolution giving otherwise forgotten Pokemon a chance.

We're given something of a deeper look into Pokemon history and somewhat of an overarching plot between XY and ORAS.

ORAS felt really good, especially the eastern half of Hoenn. And Soaring was great, too.

Generation six wasn't all that bad. Had its flaws, but so does every other Gen.

There's never been anything close to a bad main series game and Gen 6 has plenty of good things to offer.
Pokebank makes transfer of mons fairly easy for a reasonably low price.
Breeding changes were a step in the right direction though I'd like to get rid of bike simulation altogether.

Gen 6 is polarizing for me. I loved X/Y but hated OR/AS.

OR/AS is probably my least favorite Pokemon game of all time. I was never a fan of R/S/E or Hoenn in general and the remake was so easy. So, so easy - I'm shit at Pokemon and I burned through it.

It feels like I haven't had a Pokemon game since 2013, OR/AS just didn't gel with me at all.

I thought secret bases were a disaster, then I found the QR codes for 12 triple-lvl-100 Blissey teams. Now it's three fresh lvl 100s daily for twenty minutes of daily work. Not even worried about breeding IV's anymore with SM training on the way. I'm happy with the remakes now.

I also liked the idea of Mega Evos for pokemon that already had a second/third stage that were actually shit, but on stuff like Bannette I feel they could've just made it an evolution.

And Mawile making it into Uber when I figured my favorite would be relegated to shit status for life was pretty great.

Wait until they make bottle caps ridiculously rare to the point you will have to grind a battle facility for an entire day to get one, and then don't replace Blissey bases with anything and the E4 ends at Level 60. This is so breeding can still be "balanced and rewarding".

It's just like GF to introduce a feature everyone wants and then shitting on it to the point no one wants it anymore.

Ohmori-san, a lot of players greatly enjoyed features introduced in the previous 3DS games, like the DexNav. How are you planning on iterating on these features, and how do you decide how to best improve them for the next games?

EXP. All as it was was far too much, I agree. Turned it off ASAP once I realized how ridiculous it was and edited my pokemon levels in PKHex to a few levels below the then current area.

I thought Amie was too OP, to be honest. I really, really liked being able to play with my mons and get that "sense" of building a relationship with them, and the little messages and grateful pats after winning battles was out-fucking-standing, but the 1.2 EXP was a bit much and the crit ratio boost was ridiculous.

I also was never sure how to feel when reading pokemon like Fug "looks like it might cry..."

Most of the new mechanics and changes in XY were good. PSS was a huge improvement from gen 4 and 5 but could use some work.

Ending of XY always gives me chills. Story wasn't that good, but the ending is great.

ORAS was a nostalgia trip since my first game was Sapphire. Almost everything about it is better. And DexNav of course.

Overall pretty solid generation. If gen 7 makes the necessary tweaks, it could become the best generation to date.

I loved XY because of customization and the gigantic main game dex, and I'm fine with the low number of Pokemon because I like all of them except the starters, unlike in gen 5 where a lot of the mons were bland expies of gen 1 mons

gen 6 has the weakest soundtrack by far IMO

Lets mock compare Unova and Kalos.
Lets say that in Unova I liked 6 lines and in Kalos I liked all the new pokémon.
That would make Kalos's dex better for me.

Jesus can't you make an argument without shitflinging? Look at it this way: imagine a game introduces 100 new pokemon, but I only like 30 of them. The other 70 will never be part of my team, to me they might as well not exist. Most things, really. There isn't a lot I didn't like, aside from the hardcore casualization and railroading, like Wally forcing you across the entire fucking region immediately after the 5th gym.

This. DexNav got me interested in actually catching pokemon, and giving a higher shiny rate to chained pokemon was a genius idea. Got a Zorua and Swablu very quickly using that.
I hope DexNav is back in Sun and Moon.
