Jeez, there's one character that's neutral and you're flipping shit. If someone's gender/pronouns are unknown, just go with "they" until corrected. See a dude dressing like a girl? Go with she. If it's just some transvestite and not a transgender, you'll just make him happy. I dunno what to do with extramasculine lesbians and trans guys, it can be pretty hard to tell. Just look for cues, if it talks in a lower voice, it's a he, if it has a lesbian tattoo then obviously she.

If you're talking sexes, there's two typical ones, male and female, but not everyone who gets put into one of those categories actually fits the type. Intersex conditions can be pretty hard to spot even in late life.
I'm curious though, where are pronoun laws in place? Societal shit like gender is pretty hard to pin down so honest mistakes shouldn't be punishable. If you're being an asshole persistently and on purpose, or someone like a doctor, then I get the fines. But imprisonment?
