I probably have missed these discussions back when the X/Y gen was being introduced (if they ever happened). Obviously, the dragon type was in need of some much needed balance and the introduction of the fairy type really helped in that regard with the addition of a much colorful and interesting type that really changed the game.

But outside of its appreciated functional role, what is the possible folklore or mythological inspiration to help explain why fairies seem to be able to control or make dragons submit? Which stories or examples can we find in folklore and mythology that can give light to it and enrich this dynamic?
