As for why its a yeti, yeti crabs are in the same family as hermits and coconut crabs despite living in the exact opposite environment. Crabrawler is a land crab that climbs, yeti crabs are deep sea crabs living at hydrothermal vents. They managed to combine the concepts with this mon as well as crabrawlers goal for climbing high by putting it in the Hawaii region. The mountain that the icy one is based off of is technically the tallest mountain on Earth. Even taller than the Yeti's native Everest. Not the highest, Everest is still higher, but since it's on oceanic crust rather than continental crust, you've got a mountain that's tall enough to collect snow in the tropics rising from the seafloor. Therefore, the evo represents crabrawler climbing the tallest mountain on Earth and becoming a master. The base of the mountain even has hydrothermal vents due to the hotspot. Just like yeti crabs like it. I doubt they wouldn't mention the tall mountain thing via a npc for the ingame mountain or something. Tour guides love to tell people that bit of info.
