And it didn't work because even with every advantage stacked in their favor, your average Poison or Steel type doesn't stand a fucking chance against a Fairy-type wall.

Read: Clefable, which gets fucked in the ass by the Steel-types if it doesn't run Flamethrower

And by making those types the most effective way to get rid of a lot of Fairy-types, those types become better, better balancing the game.

If you're going to complain about Fairy, complain about the unnecessary nerfs it gave to Fighting- and Dark-types.

Nigger that shit was EVERYWHERE in Gen 5, and arguably Gen 4 too. Fighting needed a decent nerf.
Also IMO while Dark being weak to Fairy was unnecessary, Knock Off's buff and Steel's loss of Dark/Ghost resistances makes up for Dark getting fucked in the ass by Fairy doesn't help my nigga umbreon tho ;_;

Fighting type spam was almost as bad as Dragon-type spam.

And Dark-types benefited from Steel losing its resistance to them far more than Fairy hindered them. Most Dark-types are glass cannons anyway, so an extra weakness really doesn't bother them.

You wouldn't believe how many times some asshole has tried to switch in a fairy type, only to get OHKOd by Poison Jab and go "WTF Poison Jab instead of [Standard Gen5 Coverage Move]?"

But actually, if they hadn't made the majority of the first Fairy types they introduced immune to Poison (Mawile, Klefki) resitant to Steel (Azumarill), or part Psychic (everything else), things probably would have went well.

Unfortunately, they didn't.
