Because anything entered as a Pokemon (or... "battle-able monster" now I guess) needs one so the coding works out. Otherwise you get Missingno. or corrupted data.

Considering they've shiny locked anything that isn't a regular Pokemon in the past two generations, probably not.

Almost 99% of shinies are made with an algorithm, hence the profusion of puke green shinies for instance, or the purple ones.
But whey they feel like it, they actually edit textures to make an unique shiny.
The rest simply goes through a shitty algorithm.

Actually there's a few shinies from Gen 1 (Gen 2 technically, but still) that were custom - Charizard and Gyarados for example. But they only had limited space for extra color palettes, so most of the shinies before BW just got palette swaps from other Pokemon or the least used color palette AKA puke green.

There are a bunch of shiny locked pokemon that so far could never be found shiny (at least legitimately). I could ask you "why is there a shiny version of Volcanion if it's literally impossible to get one without pkhex?". gf just does that, UBs will probably be shiny locked but they need a shiny version for crash prevention

Gengar has and always had a shiny form, the fuck are you talking about.
Marshadow's shiny sprite is barely noticeable but it is slightly different, so it does have one.
As for Magearna... well you got me there. What's coded as its shiny sprite is absolutely identical to its regular one. What's weird is that the shiny sprite of its pokeball form IS different

none of that refutes the possibility though.

A UB dex would still use dex images, and mons have been indexed in odd orders before, like Chimecho at the very end of the Hoenn dex after the mythicals.

I think Minior having the same shell even when shiny adds to its gimmick pretty well. The whole thing about Minior is that you don't know what color it is until you activate its ability, so that should go for its shiny form too. desu not having a different colored shell is pretty smart. On the other hand I really can't see why Magearna wouldn't have a different palette

Considering how often moves like Knock off and Sucker Punch are used. Its an excellent typing but can still get crushed if you dont prepare for dark moves.

Also isnt Ghost/Normal the type with the most immunities disregarding abilities?

that tuff of hair looking bit on it's head is a different shade of color for the shiny it's kinda hard to spot on a quick glance and the main body is a shade darker also hard to spot on a quick glance.
