>>29644307My problem with the story stuff is how they shove it down your throat with the characters stopping you constantly to tell you walls of exposition; you don't notice it if you like that kind of thing, but if you don't it's fucking annoying, make those players mash the A button to keep the game going. It's a waste of time for both the player who doesn't give a fuck and the developer who's scripting these events and writing the dialog.
I'd be all for more story heavy games if they made the story a little more optional and integrated with the game: have just stand around in hard to miss locations, they already stand out from normal NPCs, so when you reach an area and you see them you'll instantly think "oh there's a new questline/dialog/battle/etc. That way you don't force anything on the player and you can still have your story, you can also use item descriptions and normal NPCs and whatnot to further the backstory, Souls-style.
