>be me, 9 years old, computer scientist father, playing vidya on PC since 3, favorite games being Warcraft 2
>never had a video game console
>had only tried very briefly pokémon green in japanese on emulator, couldn't even figure out how to get out of the house because I didn't recognize the carpet as a door
>one day, my mother comes to me
>"we have a gift for you"
>it's pic related with a pokémon red cartridge
>immediately start to play
>choose Charmander, destroy everything on my way including Brock and Misty, actually find Surge more difficult than them but still win
>quickly get a Fearow and then a Lapras as an HM slave
>teach shitty Fissure and Strength to Charizard without knowing what it does, turns out it's shit
>still manage to win against the Elite Four, had a few problems on the way but did it within the first try
>capture Mewtwo, but too bored to train him
>meet a very good friend at school, he knows everything about pokémon
>we capture all the legendary birds together
>He trains Zapdos while I train Moltres
>We also discover the Cinnabar glitchs and explore them extensively
>I get a very good Snorlax and Haunter, a few shitty level 100 Raticates too
>We also try the cloning glitch with the invisible PC and the reboot while saving, but I'm to afraid of breaking my game and don't really use it
>We like to fight sometimes
>Besides his excellent Zapdos, he also has a very good Starmie and Chansey
>He always beat me, my pokémons are all shit except for Snorlax and Haunter
>We try hard to find a way to get Mew few the boat and the truck, we don't know yet that it's a joke
>Our friendship continues for years, we play a lot to Diablo II together, do lots of lans, go in holidays to the beach, discover Warhammer and Warcraft 3
>He leaves for another country far away
>One year later I come to his city to see him for a week, that's great
>I never see him again and completely loose contact
I don't know anymore if it feels bad or good
