Triumphantly, he says "Phnappy!" and I'm sitting there totally bewildered that a name could be butchered so poorly. I wish I could say it was intentional.

Could never consistently remember the spelling of Onix and Jynx. Would substitute Y for I and vice versa because I was never sure which was the spelling of the actual word and which was the Pokémon's name, since it's not like I saw either word frequently.

Also in reverse, the Pidgey line made me think it was "pidgeon" for years.

When I was a kid, I pronounced it... Syun-kyu? Something like this. It sticked to me for years and I started pronoucing it correctly after listening to some Pokemon song or something during late gen V or gen VI days.

That doesn't have to do with spelling, but Rayquaza's name was never said vocally by anyone but fans until Emerald came out. Raykwahzuh was well established among fans but then Nintendo went "nope, Raykwayzuh, like Quasar Ray, it was always Kwayza."
