N3DS vs N3DS Xl - what do you guys think? I want to try get one of these things for SM and to make trading between my Gen VI games easier.

>regular is more compact, but only comes in fucking black or white and nintendo probably won't release new colours but new faceplates instead
>xl comes in blue and has more battery life, but is larger

Speaking of the N3DS XL, does anybody have a blue one? Is it actually blue unlike the aqua blue O3DS?

Always go with XL. Pick a design you like and you're good to go. If you don't like it you can always buy some decorative cases or foils.
XL just feels better in your hands and if you're not a hungry skeleton you can comfortably carry it around in your pockets.

I was keen on the N3DS but after seeing a limited edition AC N3DSXL I can safely safe I'm glad I got the bigger console. It's nicer to play on and the increased screen size is great.

dunno how the small battery compares to the XL, I can easily get 6+ hours with brightness down a bit and no 3D on my XL

N3DS. The customizable faceplates is great, and the size is absolutely perfect. The screen is just big enough while still being very portable, and the customizability is great. The XL is just too big, and it stretches the games out beyond belief. The games look, feel, and run much nicer on the standard size.

2DS for 100€
3DS for 120€
N3DS for 160€
i dont want to spend that much money actually as i only plan to play sm and maybe some older zelda or pokemon games but i think the 3DS is much more compact than the 2DS and yesterday i tried the N3DS at a friend of mine and it just feels great.
opinions on which one to get? is the +40€ worth the upgrade?
anyone knows on which of these i can run binding of isaac since this would be also a nice game to be able to play on a portable

if you plan to hack it go with n3ds (can run all games overclocked and you get some cool shit like streaming the n3ds video output over wifi, like a capture card)

if you don't plan to hack it you can stick with a o3ds

if you plan on playing games that profit from the c-pad on the n3ds you should also get a n3ds instead (monster hunter)

That depends - do you have tiny hands? I got the original 3DS standard size for Christmas a few years back. Then when the New 3DS XL came out, I upgraded to that. Now whenever I see someone playing on a regular 3DS, I wonder how they manage to do it. It just seems so tiny.

They do have the same size buttons, but you need to stretch your hand out more to hit them because the system is taller. But have a (You) even though (You) didn't have a valid point there.

It's usually the back buttons that are painful to use than the front buttons. It's extremely discomforting to press the back buttons since your fingers have to be completely contracted to reach them.

dont listen to that other motherfucker. i decided to buy a 2ds because a dont want to spend more money than a should on an dying generation console (switch is right around the corner). The fucking device is so nice to hold, its just so much more confortable to game on for longer periods of time than the clam shell design 3ds's. Also, the crystal red a blue ones are so fucking sick looking!!

I really love my new 3ds, feels nice in my hands, and it doesn't feel stretched like the 3dsxl does. If anything I'd say go with the new3ds or the old xl. The new xl isn't that much better than a regular xl, but a new3ds is leagues better than the original.

But the ppi is even more attrocious on the XL's screen. Like watching something that's 144p on a 50" televesion. Having a more compact screen at least gives you the illusion of the resolution being higher, and definitely looks less blurry.

Also I personally find standard N3DS to be the perfect size and I say this as someone with giant hands so XL just feels waaaay too big, kinda like the original Xbox controller.

Go for the standard OP, you won't regret it. I've had Xenoblade plates and Majora's Mask ones, and while I've stuck with the latter they both look great and make you forget that the system is just boring old white.

What is it like compared to the original DS family consoles? They also have a smaller ppi compared to the 3DS, and I don't remember the DS XL's pixels being all that blurry.

You may not remember it, or you just may not care, but they were super blurry. The DSi XL was an abomination with a ppi of 76.19. This compares to 171ppi for the N3DS XL and 215ppi for the standard N3DS. There's a clear winner here, OP. bigger =/= better when it comes to handhelds. As a satisfied owner of a standard N3DS trust me when I tell you you will be satisfied with its size and won't want anything bigger.

Not OP but, which one is better: the white n3ds or the black one?

My blue xl is busted and i decided to upgrade. Now one problem I had other than the heavy top screen(and flimsy at that), was smudge marks around the ABXY buttons and the d-pad.

Black if you're in Europe. But I'm 90% certain white is STILL the only color available in North America. Only one SKU is still easy to find too, the Super Mario 3D land one. ACHHD and Pokemon Red/Blue have been stashed away by scalpers long ago and are out of reach for anyone on a budget.

Luckily SM3DL bundle is the cheapest of the three to have come out. so far.

It is, STILL. I'm considering upgrading from my O3DSXL to a regular N3DS and would prefer to have the black model instead of white for the same reasons as >>29671196, but being in North America and that I'd like to have a regular N3DS that's in my region, yeah... Would be nice to see it be released here by Christmas, bundled or not, but that's not likely.

They have them in bundles. Gamestop even had a regular and an XL to compare them. The buttons on the XL are placed well enough for it to be comfortable no matter how big or small your hands are. Same goes for the regular n3ds.
