I want to play a multiplayer pokemon game.

So what pokemon mmo game is the better?

Pokemmo or Pokemon Revolution Online?

What are the pros and cons of each and are they really free or do they have microtransactions?

Are there any others that are better?

PokeMMO by far. You can't ask for any tips on PRO without a ebin smartass response. PokeMMO just has a better community and better features. It also has breeding unlike PRO.

PokeMMO is kinda cool

It's just Fire Red + Emerald with multiplayer & cancerous scammers & greedy traders

IIRC it has the Gen 4 battle system too, instead of the Gen 3 one.

No, because they're smart and know how to program their game & word things on their marketplace to not get in trouble legally. They don't reference anything in their code, they use the ROMS for all of the names & data, their client is basically using the ROM for textures & as a network thing

They all have micro transactions, or else they'd all have already failed

Marketplace they just make you pay for everything as a "donation" and in return you get in game coins that have no relation to anything GameFreak or Pokemon related, but can buy that type of shit in their marketplace, which also doesn't have anything copyrighted directly mentioned or referenced

Also what kind of features does Pokemmo have over PRO besides breeding? PRO seems to have custom graphics and rideable pokemon for what I could tell from screenshots.

Last I checked PokeMMO was still very active, it's probably the most successful Pokemon MMO, it's been up for years without any issues

Pokemmo is cool if you don't mind the chat being flooded with underaged third worlders shitposting and if you don't mind competitive being the same 10 Pokemon over and over.

Pokemmo is so far the best multiplayer experience you can have.

Is there some place I can find out what stuff is locked behind micro transactions without downloading the game first?
Is it just cosmetics that no one gives a fuck about or do they lock actual gameplay stuff unless you pay like a good goy?

Pokemmo is all cosemetic. I think there are some potions for increased shinies but nothing major.
