Wow /vp/ you're all so nice and thoughtful.
To topic, I love to make little challenges for myself in Pokemon, usually through my character's RP. Not nuzlocke per se, but who ever found that appealing in the first place.
As an example. In my ORAS game my character avoids plastics, in line with the heavy undertone of environmentalism in the game. This means no potions, burn heals, or ethers, instead opting for moo moo milks, berries, and energy roots. I've even cut out revives. It doesn't so much make the game tougher, as it provides a fun way to challenge myself and to use the alternative items in the game.
I use weather teams often, or thematic teams, out of line with the cookie-cutter no-synergy sweep rhetoric spread by most battlers these days. In Sapphire I run a water electric drizzle team under Kyogre. I love the hard hit of a Waterfall in rain under Swift Swim, toppling even the most unfavorable type matchups, and on the RP side, I think of it as cultivating comradery in my team.
So. Get high when you're playing Pokemon, and, maybe you'll figure out some things about yourself.
