You might be right, but at least the "base of the tail" where the gas and flames come from in this case is mercifully on the dorsal side of its body and not on the underside

Nothing about Kirlia's dex entry in gen 3 was specifically gendered the way Salandit's is. Female Salandits are the special ones and the males are just there.
