I acknowledged that he hasn't used Blastoise since Gen 1. I also said it is more accurate to say he has no signature, but if he absolutely ever had one at some point in history, it was Blastoise.
The concept of Signature Pokémon is kind of dumb anyways. It's entirely a fan-pushed thing, and isn't actually accurate at all. Most characters in the franchise are completely indifferent to their Pokémon.
Sure there are some exceptions, like Red and his Charizard, but the majority of characters don't.
Even Roxie, her entire design is based on a Shiny Koffing, her Jap song is about Koffing, and Koffing appears to be her band mascot... Except she never uses any shinies (hah, NPC's almost never do), and she drops the Koffing in her later teams, with the fans accepting Whilipede/Scolipede as her "signature" as it was the only Pokémon on every team of hers.
TL;DR - This is dumb
