Now that the games will soon be out, we haven't much time left to predict stuffs and discuss theories.
In your opinion, What are Ultrabeasts ? What is their relation to Aether Foundation and why are they attacking trainers and pokemon ?

I think most ultrabeasts are actualy a weirdly good mesh between objectmons and regular pokemon, things like UB-01, origami and cable UBs do it very well, and I hope they have some cool new typings.

UB-02 beauty is my favourite though, I'm very happy we got a cockroach pokemon fter all this time and I specially like how they turned it into perfect waifu material

The theory was that the UBs are Cosmog's perception of humans and environments, twisted into a monster form. So 01 would be how it perceives Lillie, Beauty would be how it perceived Lusamine, and so on.

Anon, if they end up with say, 600 base stat total and alright distributions it'd be more than enough, just look at the pseudos, they wouldnt even need amazing types, just by not being shit they'd outclass most pokemon

750 base totals are on par with the primals while still getting to use items and no mega restrictions. Its just a recipe for trouble

my theory is that they are designed after trainer, a pokemon and the location they meet first. so they basicly copy the design of 3 things.

if not it is still obvious that they are trainer + signature pokemon. and that will be proven that she will have that pokemon in her team.

I wonder if those last two, the obsidian beast and the mouth abomination will be version-exclusive (or simply more story-relevant by version) like the UB-02's. They both look like final boss material. The black one doesn't seem to resemble any character we've seen. It's evil-looking like Faba and rocky like whatshername Kahuna but doesn't share much beyond that. Maybe it's the champion.

Ultra Beasts are hands down the most interesting part about these games to me.
I really love the entire concept behind them.

Pokemon like Deoxys look like aliens, but still have that unique "pokemon" aesthetic to them.

These things are entirely different. They don't look like they're from Pokemon games. They look like they had a completely different game's artist come in and design some monsters and it really helps make them look like inter-dimensional beings.

I just love the mystery surrounding them and how different they look from everything else in the series. Plus, Absorption is a fucking bro and I'm definitely using him on my team.

You know what I would actually love? If UBS were like the roaming legendaries, but counted as a trainer battle so no running away. Level 80+, health persistent across all fights, just had to keep fighting desperately and hope to weaken them enough over multiple battles to catch them in the special ball for UBs so you can't just Quickball them and move on.

This question seems to spark some discussion and usually ends with someone getting angry, but this is the right place to ask it.

At the end of the day, do you guys thing that UBs will be considered Pokemon? I'm talking within the story of the game, do you think they'll officially be Pokemon?

I personally think that despite having some fucked up and weird origin story, they're still going to be numbered Pokemon in the Pokedex and will most likely have names other than their UB classification numbers and names.

This idea actually seems the most likely to me. Crab almost definitely has Strong Jaw and I could see Bamboo having Mega Launcher. Maybe Absorbtion gets one that boosts moves that drain health, like a free Big Root that also increases the damage.

I think they will be Pokémon from a mechanics perspective, but from the actual Lore they won't be. They fight, they can be healed, they use held items, but on a fundamental level they are still different.

I don't even think they will be in the pokedex. Or at least, not grouped with the others. The same way that XY split up the dex into multiple regions, I think they will do the same for islands, but also have one for UBs, completely seperate from everything else.

It would explain their bizarre appearance, it would make them TECHNICALLY still Pokemon, and it would explain why they're so strong (because their power also grew with their bodies). Plus I don't think anyone would see it coming.

Sure. We already have 'abilities' that affect a Pokémon without being an actual ability. Pretty much every Pokémon that has an ability unique to it has it hard coded into that Pokémon in some way which prevents other Pokémon from using it. Adding a similar effect to UBs wouldn't be that hard.

Many form changes also work similar.

Especially if it's like Colosseum, and we can transfer our Pokemon/UBs to and from Sun/Moon. More spinoffs need to have compatibility with the main series.
