I think Machop is a severely underrated Pokemon. It only had like what, three anime appearances? No appearances in 3D spinoff games that weren't Stadium, and practically ignored.

Machop was one of the starters of PMD in its early incarnations. Shame of course that GF's lightning came along. The Machamp line in general is underrated compared to many other gen 1 until recently. But the spotlight the line gets somehow still doesn't translate to gameplay buffs (no mega, alola, still outclassed etc) but we'll take what we can get. The exposure is good

Well, Machoke and Machamps have been NPCs for a long while in the Pokemon games, even in Alola. But poor Machop's only recent role was in Fire and Leaf, stomping ground.
