Eh, gen 2 were made with the intention of being a direct sequel to the first games, and they didn't really intend for there to be more Pokemon games. That's why gen 2 has a bunch of things missing in the typical Pokemon formula, and the fact that a whole other region is in the postgame.

Gen 7 is a direct sequel to Gen 6 and the rest of the franchise. That's why Dexio and Sina are back, Colress is back, Red and Blue are back, Alolan Formes and Z moves are all given to Gen 1 Pokemon. Pokemon Sun and Moon are the last Pokemon games Game Freak will be making. Don't you get it, anon?
