My point was that he could (if he were banned & able to appeal, I've never been banned by Nintendo) claim he didn't know and possibly (ideally) get un-banned or set it to temp. so they know when the real time is? what if I genuinely wanted it to say 2010 or 2020. besides, if your dates don't match to the servers you can't go online if I recall, but "start" date could say literally anything as it's not requiring online. if it says you started 2010 and you put your date back you can still go online.

History suggests that Nintendo only bans for using public headers. And even if you were banned, history also suggests that their bans are temporary, at least the first time.

Don't go using GTS or Wonder Trade. That's just stupid. But don't freak out over being online or just going to the Festival Plaza.

And even if you did get a console ban, you just need to change your serial number. Real easy and fast fix.
