There is no source, it doesn't affect the opponent. That's why he gets his own signature priority attack, along with two others.

Yeah, but when does he switch? End of turn? As soon as his life total goes below 50%? Will he even attack if his health is already too low or will he just instantly switch at the start of turn?

I'm bothered by this ability because we have no idea in which order it activates, or if it has priority itself.

Ok.

He switches out immediately after his Health stops depleting once it has crossed the 50% threshold.

If he is below 50% already and he is hit, he does not switch out again.

If he is below 50%, heals above 50%, and then gets hit below 50%, he switches out.

The whole deal with him is to use one of your 3 priority moves on the turn you suspect you will be hit below 50%. That way you get a hit in, he tanks a hit, and you get a free switch to whatever other Pokemon you want.

Long story short, his ability acts as an Eject Button that activates immediately when he crosses 50% health.

He has 3 priority moves so that you can abuse this.
