I really love Araquanid's design but I can't for the life of me figure out how to use it outside of PU

There is no hope for Araquanid. Golisopod is good. Bulk, attack, good move pool with many priority attack options, he's a beast. Ability is bad but not that bad really and may sometimes even be helpful.

Golisopod is pretty nice with First Impression, Liquidation, Aqua Jet and Swords Dance. Not OU, but it can do well in UU.

Araquanid, well... I don't know wtf GF had in mind.

Psychic types are likely to go up in use because of psychic terrain, that makes his priority attacks bad but it makes bug in general better. Also what about putting him on a rain team? Pelipper has drizzle now and he's actually a very underrated mon, easily a better drizzle inducer than politoad.

Unless it gets Sticky Web via Move Tutor, which will come only in the next game, the only role Aquanid can play is a trapper with Infestation, it has decent resistances and its ability helps with Fire types plus it can't het burned, but that's about it. Maybe I can come up with more, but after I look up its movepool. Fuck, why couldn't they give it Sticky Web right off the bat ? At least it's not unusable since it has good physical moves (even with base 70 Atk).

Golisopod is gonna be usefull even with that Speed stat, it has relatively good bulk and a Bug type Fake Out, but a lot more powerfull. Its ability can help it with getting out in critical moments. With TR support, it can be a monster. It's still good none the less.

Golispod is potentially good. Bug extreme speed that it get to use twica and a free switch on anything threatening could be good.

Meh, I doubt about the viability of Pelipper. Thou, I forgot that Golisopod also learns Leech Life, potentially keeping it in shape for avoiding forced switch out.
Then again, maybe forced switch out is its real advantage.

Sadly no, but it does learn Wide Guard and Entrainment. I guess it's to pass down its ability ? Cause it it's pretty much Heatproof, but also with no burn.

As long as it will get Sticky Web via Tutor later on, I can live with it. I'm just a bit bitter cause they made it physical instead of Special. It could've been much better with Scald and Ice Beam plus Dark Pulse/Shadow Ball and Giga Drain. Even Batton Pass with Tail Glow.

Makes a decent tank with various priority options. Its main niche is Emergency Exit, which lets it get at least a hit in before pivoting to an ally with switch advantage. I don't see it going lower than UU

His ability forces you to switch. Anything that happens outside of your control is a tactical disadvantage for you, no reason it will be good. There may be SOME instances where this is useful, but it will absoluely be more often a detrimental ability.

If you're allowed to choose who you switch to, it's anything but a disadvantage. You're able to get at least a hit off, and then get a switch advantage in the same turn.
However if it's random like Roar, it'll be shit.

If it gets Superpower/Hammer Arm via move tutor, then it's A+. Superpower boosts its Atk and Def, while Hammer Arm boosts its Seed. Or just run with Superpower on a Trick Room team, that Speed stat is killer in a TR environment, run mixed with Leaf Storm/Superpower and coverage moves like Poison Jab/Giga Drain/Leech Life/HP Fire or Ground and you're set.

Lurantis has a lot of potential, but it has to get that move first. For now, just try with Contrary Leaf Storm/HP and some coverage. That Speed is so abismal, it needs TR to work.

I'm gonna try to use Araquanid, but it's pretty far from good. I think the key point you'd have to focus on is Lunge, an 80 power move that always lowers the target's Attack stat.

It only has 70 base attack but combined with threat of Mirror Coat against special attacks (you would EV for HP), and possibly with its trapping options in Spider Web/Mirror Coat, you could wear down an opponent.

It would NOT be able to employ this strategy against powerful OU Pokemon though, I think it would lose the tug of war too fast to get going.
